It's ...Dude, meant to comment on this earlier. It's nice to read a clear-headed critique of this totally played-out musical division. Having been indoctrinated by the "out" or "downtown" school of jazz in college, it took awhile for me to realize both camps have their own limiting set of tropes. And after years of hearing virtuosic "downtown" players blow over banal vamps, I'd probably enjoy the more conservative yet thoughtfully arranged Lincoln Center players do their thing. Putting aside the financial inbalance (which is a legitimate gripe for the "downtown" players), folks on both ends need to move past the rhetoric of outdated critical and compositional concepts and just start listening for quality.evan patrickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00567850920170158053noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36273873.post-23827278210159016342011-04-04T13:34:36.458-04:002011-04-04T13:34:36.458-04:00Interesting pairing Hank, thanks for the picture.....Interesting pairing Hank, thanks for the picture...Paul Shapironoreply@blogger.com
